City of West Monroe receives nearly $3 million in federal funding
The City of West Monroe has received nearly $3 million in federal appropriations funding to improve local infrastructure and enhance public safety.
Congresswoman Julia Letlow helped to secure $2.2 million for Downing Pines Road improvements that include adding a turn lane from Downing Pines to Thomas Road and repair 1.7 miles of roadway from the intersection of Downing Pines and Thomas Road to the intersection of Downing Pines and U.S. Highway 80.
U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy and U.S. Senator John Kennedy helped to secure $794,000 for equipment for the West Monroe Police Department. This equipment would provide officers with the latest law enforcement technology, including in-car radios, hand-held radios, high-definition surveillance mobile camera trailers, digital forensic tools and license plate readers.
This equipment helps to further the City of West Monroe and West Monroe Police Department’s commitment to ensuring officers have the necessary tools and technology to protect and serve the community effectively and enhance the overall efficiency of police operations.
“We express our deep appreciation to Congresswoman Letlow, U.S. Senator Cassidy and U.S. Senator Kennedy for their help and support of West Monroe projects,” said West Monroe Mayor Staci Albritton Mitchell. “Both of these projects are important to helping West Monroe continue to grow while providing critical services and access to residents, businesses and visitors.”
